What is it?

Vulvodynia is a chronic pain condition that occurs in the vaginal opening known as vulva that cannot be explained or no known cause.

What are the symptoms?

Vulvodynia presents as:

  • Genital pain described as burning pain.
  • Pain during sexual intercourse.
  • Vaginal dryness.
  • Vaginal itching.
  • Pelvic pain.

What to expect?

Try the following:

  • Avoiding irritants such as tight-fitting clothing, perfumes and dyes.
  • Abrasive activities, such as cycling, should also be avoided.
  • Maintain proper hygiene.
  • Take pain relievers for relief of pain.
  • Try relaxing strategies.
