What is it?

A pneumothorax is a condition in which the lung has collapsed. This is cause by a leakage of air in the space between the chest wall and the lung.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of a pneumothorax include chest pain and a shortness of breath.

What to expect?

In addition to treatment by your doctor the following lifestyle rules are important:

  • Do not lift heavy objects and do not engage in heavy physical labour in the first two months after treatment.
  • Do not fly in the first period after treatment.
  • If you smoke, stop smoking.
